I am a photographer and an artist and combine the two into unique, original pieces of art. Not only do I create digital art with my photographs, but I push the boundaries to take those images further using mediums such as encaustic wax or resin to create unique art pieces. By using a computer as the beginning step of the process, I can easily change the position of a focal point, color palette, mood or lighting all without having to start again with a new canvas.
I have two main people to thank for leading me on my creative path with photography and art. I am currently a student of David duChemin’s Master Your Craft and Making the Image classes and am learning a lot about the creative side of photography. I am such a fan of David’s (check out his blog). I became bored with making the same photographs as everyone else. How many ways can you make a landscape photograph different? Tack sharp images are nice, but they lack character. I was looking for something different. Something that showed who I am. And then I found it!
Several years ago Sebastian Michaels offered an online Photoshop Artistry course. (check out his blog) I was intrigued…what was this grunge business all about? Let me tell you, his course was more than grunge, it was a whole new way of looking at photography, art and life. I was hooked! And now I’m in the Kaizen advanced artist group. What a journey this has been. Thank you, David and Sebastian for shaping my artistic life and awakening me to the endless possibilities.
My studio is an eclectic place of creativity because I am an eclectic type of artist who can never settle on just one genre of art! You will find a bit of little traditional art, digital art, paper and fiber crafts and whatever else the muse may think up.
The door is always open and the coffee pot is always on. Friends are always welcomed to come and explore their artistic path while sharing stories and laughter. Always lots of laughter and creativity!
So come join me! Let’s create something together while creating memories to last a lifetime!
I am inspired by nature and color. During the warmer months, you can find me almost anywhere around the country finding new places to photograph. Spring and fall are my favorite seasons because there is color everywhere, from new flowers in the spring to the gorgeous fall colors in autumn.
I use a variety of apps to transform photographs into digital artwork. And when an image really inspires my artistic vision, I will do minor editing, then print the image and take it further with encaustic wax or resin to transform it into an original, hand-worked piece of art using mixed media.
I have won ribbons at regional fairs with my photography and digital art, and I am published in several editions of Living an Artistic Life magazine.
and in the magazine, Creative B&W Photo Artisty: Pushing Photography Further
